If you need some more information on what schemes or funding routes are available to you please look below at a brief description on what each of these obligations cover.
Also known as the Home Heat Cost Reduction Obligation, this is an obligation that provides free boiler and insulation grants to those who receive certain means-tested benefits. It aims to reduce fuel poverty amongst low-income households by ensuring that heat is generated as efficiently as possible and try and reduce the amount of heat that escapes from your home.
The latest phase will run until March 2026 which gives households that missed out on the first three ECO programs an opportunity to benefit from warm housing policies. Under previous ECO schemes, grant funding was given for gas boilers, oil boilers, LPG boilers, and electric heaters. Whereas now ECO4 is limited to gas boilers only.
The main purpose of The Affordable Warmth Obligation is to try and reduce conditions of fuel poverty and help vulnerable families reduce the cost of their gas bills.
The ECO4 Program was launched in April 2022, taking the place of previous government initiatives designed to assist households with low incomes, in minimizing their heating expenses. Keep in mind that having energy-efficient homes not only reduces costs but also enhances your overall quality of life, offering comfort, warmth, and peace of mind. Plus, it leaves you with more money for the activities you truly enjoy.
To determine a property's eligibility for the ECO4 Scheme, the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating is essential. The government mandates an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) whenever a property is constructed, sold, or rented. The EPC provides insights into your home's energy consumption and associated expenses while also offering suggestions for reducing energy usage to save money
In April 2013, the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) program was instituted. Its primary objective is to support eligible customers in upgrading their homes for greater energy efficiency. This involves the installation of free energy-saving measures and heating improvements, allowing customers to maintain a warm home while minimizing energy consumption.
The ECO scheme was set up to help support households on the lowest incomes to improve their energy efficiency and reduce their energy bills. In October 2018 the Government launched the latest version of the ECO scheme and it now caters to even more benefits meaning more people are able to apply.
